Christian McBrideChristian McBride · Listen
At thirty-four bassist Christian Mcbride has played alongside jazz giants like Chick Corea, Dave Bruebeck and McCoy Tyner. He's one of the instruments most sought after sidemen. But he's also become a band leader in his own right. He also a champion for jazz music.

Ursula RuckerUrsula Rucker · Listen
The past decade has witnessed a rebirth in the spoken-word movement, especially among young people. Ursula Rucker is a poet who's been at the forefront of that scene. She combines a seductive delivery with equally sweet music. But don’t let either of those things fool you. Rucker has a sharp tongue and she's not afraid to use it in service of others.

Solomon BurkeSolomon Burke · Listen
Solomon Burke is one of the early pioneers of soul music. He dominated Atlantic records in the early sixties. In fact, the label's maverick producer Jerry Wexler called Burke's voice "an instrument of exquisite sensitivity". In 2001 Solomon Burke was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. His 2002 recording "Don't Give up on Me" was hailed as a comeback album.

King BrittKing Britt · Listen
King Britt travels the globe as a house DJ, remixer and record producer but he's been a longtime fixture of Philadelphia's music scene. He's worked with a host of locally grown talent from DJ Jazzy Jeff to the late Grover Washington Jr. Recently he's gotten into movies--contributing to the score of Michael Mann's screen adaptation of "Miami Vice."
