Popped! is a week long music festival whose exclusive focus is on the independent musicians and artists of Philadelphia. The festival launches on Monday, April 9th culminating on Sunday, April 15th. Shows will be held in diverse venues throughout the city with extraordinary lineups and all ages shows.
Popped! will feature a wide array of Philly-based bands each night, acts culled from different neighborhoods and spanning genres not usually presented together. During the festival you'll hear diverse sounds like low-fi retro indie pop from Dr. Dog, recently seen on Late Night with Conan O'Brian, and spazzy hip-hop meets rock of Yah Mos Def and everything in between. All bands will bring something different to the festival and all have two things in common: a home in the Philadelphia area, and a knack for creating innovative and vital underground music.
WXPN and Y-Rock on XPN have partnered with Popped! to help spread the word about the festival and vibrant music scene right here in our backyard. Stay tuned for details about special programming we'll be doing in conjunction with several Popped! bands.
