Why are you asking for my age range and hometown?

Having information about our audience is essential. Understanding who is engaging with our content helps in making future decisions about programming, digital content, membership offerings, and more.

What songs qualify for this countdown?

Any song that features lead vocals performed by an artist who identifies as a woman can be included in this countdown if it receives enough votes.

Why did you choose to focus on women?

In recent years our audience has called attention to the domination of male artists in our crowd-sourced countdowns. To shine a spotlight on voices that have been underrepresented in those past countdowns, this year’s will focus on women.

What about artists who identify as non-binary, transgender, or gender non-conforming?

While our focus for this year’s countdown is on women artists (which includes trans women), we understand there is a wide spectrum of gender identities. In addition to cis men, artists who identify as non-binary, gender non-conforming, and transgender men will not be included in this countdown.
